Minutes

For first time, OpenFX held a “Birds of a feather” at NAB, and afterwards held their Annual General Meeting. AGM started. Currently about 10K pounds in association account. Peter Huisma presented financial current accounts after the meeting, and also noted that there are some additional expenses due for website, internet cost, and NAB meeting room. Last year did not send invoices for membership fees. Send them the year before, but some did not pay. Discussion of amount (currently £500). Proposal to change to £200, seconded. Voted, unanimously passed. Discussion of what should we do about members that do not pay? Eventually (and especially if inactive or don’t support standard), cancel their membership. Otherwise we can remind them, but this is not a full-time job of anyone. For now, we will not remove / cancel. Discussion of documentation, examples, web site: they need someone to improve and maintain them. There is some money in the account that could support this effort. Some members will explore some ideas (maybe Gary can help?). Proposal to end meeting, seconded. AGM ended. After meeting, we had a discussion of OpenCL unified extension. There was consensus among parties who already use OpenCL that the proposed unified extension was good, but dissention from one part about naming that was selected to ensure backward compatibility. Those present agreed that backward compatibility wins over perfect naming, so Dennis will upload the extension to the wiki and being the ratification process. After meeting, Gary expressed interest in improving documentation, examples, and web site, but needs direction on what we want.
